I don't know what the standard is for Thai food in London, but Krua is all good. It was a fairly busy night, but our party was seated immediately. The complimentary prawn chips caught me off guard. The place isn't huge, but it has a nice ambience and the food is delicious.

I stopped by here with some coworkers to order carry-out lunch back to our meeting. The interior of the restaurant is nicely decorated, service was friendly, and the menu had a good variety of dishes with a description of how spicy the dish is. I ordered the (medium spicy) grilled red snapper wrapped in banana leaf with a side of coconut rice. Each dish came is a microwaveable plastic container and wooden utensils. Snapper was cooked perfectly and I especially liked the fact that it was skin-on and indeed having good spiciness. I wished the fish was a bit larger though - mine was slightly larger than a smelt. The coconut rice was really good and had just enough sweetness to help balance the heat from the fish. Another cool thing was that the workers were decorating Halloween stuff (bats, cobwebs) inside and outside the restaurant. Plus, each of us got our bills in these wooden boxes which was kind of cool.

My wife and I ate here last night and had a very nice meal and a welcoming experience. For London the prices are quite reasonable and -- speaking as a Thai food fan -- I'd say the food quality is excellent. Our dinner was simple. We shared a basket of shrimp chips/crisps and had two entrees: Crying Tiger (the wife) and Pad Thai (me) with a couple of beers. My wife, who is a picky eater, opined when her dish arrived that she probably wouldn't be able to finish it and I could have some of her leftovers for lunch the next day...and she then proceeded to eat the entire serving! The Pad Thai (which I frequently order at unknown Thai restaurants to gauge their execution of this common dish) was excellent and authentically flavored, not the sickly-sweet version found at many Thai joints. It had plentiful prawns, and I also appreciated that they had cut the green onions into small, manageable pieces instead of the usual unwieldy 2-inch chunks. Service throughout was attentive without being intrusive; water glasses were promptly refilled without having to ask and we never felt rushed or neglected. A solid four-star restaurant to be sure!
